Comrades and Auxiliary Members

We are starting our new year and just finished the District 21 meeting and membership was the most talked about topic. Our Post is doing good but we are at 90%

as of January we still need 24 members to make 100%. If you meet someone you think is eligible please talk to them about becoming a VFW member. We are in the running for All State Post.

I had a phone call from my Granddaughter on Thursday about a schoolmates home burning. She asked if the VFW could help. I called the Smith family but could not get an answer, so I drove out and talked with the neighbors. They said that the family had lost everything in the fire including their phones. The Red Cross had given them enough money for two nights in a motel. Since then we have given them a check for $1000.00, two forms to fill out for Grants from the VFW, numerous items of furniture, clothing, kitchen utensils and bedding. We have also enlisted the help of other Posts and Servalotion, a local non profit. We are currently working with Habitat for Humanity and Home Depot for Help rebuilding their home. Warrior is a Springtown oil well company and has offered to donate a 40 ft. RV.

Danny Smith is a combat veteran that served in the first Iraq War . The Smiths have two sons and a daughter currently serving in the US Army. The VFW and Servalotion are currently accepting items for the Smith Family.

Thank you for your service

Joe Holder - Post Commander
