A bit of recent history about our post:

A heavy layer of wet snow caused the roof to collapse back in February of 2010. There was massive damage to the entire structure. While this was a setback for the Post, it also is an opportunity to upgrade a thirty year old building and to make it more energy efficient, modern and user friendly.

A temporary "VFW Annex" was opened next door until the new building was finished. Since the old slab was uneven and needed to be cut in numerous places for new plumbing, a thinn layer of concrete was poured over the existing slab. A new metal building was erected. The new concrete floor has been stained and etched with our VFW Maltese Cross in the banquet hall and an image of the State of Texas Map in the entrance way near the front door.  It was a lot of work but our expectations of being operational and moved in by the end of August, became a reality - our August meeting was held in the new building and we opened the canteen on the same day, August 13 and our Grand Opening has held November 6.
